Bossier Parish Police Jury Takes Decisive Action to Improve Public Safety and Neighborhood Standards

Posted: Oct 2, 2025, 2:10 PM

In a strong show of commitment to public health, safety, and community well-being, the Bossier Parish Police Jury took significant steps during its October 1 Regular Agenda Meeting to address property standards and improve neighborhood conditions across the parish.

During the Property Standards and Condemnation Hearings, the Jury reviewed over ten properties flagged for serious health and safety violations, many of which were abandoned, in foreclosure, or lacked responsive ownership. After thorough review and documentation of due diligence, including posted notices and outreach attempts, the Jury voted to condemn multiple properties that posed risks to residents and the surrounding environment.

“These decisions to condemn these properties reflect our ongoing commitment to keeping Bossier Parish safe, clean, and livable for all residents,” said Glenn Benton, Jury President. “And the beauty of this process is we’re not just identifying problems, we’re solving them.”

The Jury also received positive updates on recent cleanup efforts. One such property was successfully cleaned by parish crews with the help of a concerned neighbor, showcasing the power of community collaboration. In several cases, property owners responded to condemnation notices by taking action to clean and restore their lots, demonstrating the effectiveness of the parish’s outreach and enforcement efforts.

Benton said these actions are part of a broader initiative to uphold property standards, protect public health, and encourage responsible ownership throughout Bossier Parish.
