New Walking Trail Coming to South Bossier Park

Posted: Jul 18, 2025, 1:10 PM

The Bossier Parish Parks and Recreation Department has begun a major upgrade at South Bossier Park, temporarily closing a portion of the park to make way for a brand-new feature.

On Monday, surveyors marked the path for a new one-mile walking trail that will wind through one of the park’s most active areas. This scenic trail will be located just inside the gated section of the park, offering residents another way to enjoy the outdoors.

To ensure the safety of visitors during construction, the baseball and softball fields, along with the playground, will be closed for the duration of the project. However, the football, soccer, and lacrosse fields will remain open and accessible to teams and the public.

The walking trail is expected to be completed within 40 days, bringing an exciting new addition to the park.

“This new walking trail will be a great addition,” said Keith Sutton, District 12 Police Juror. “South Bossier Park is already one of the busiest recreational areas in the parish. It gives families, athletes, and visitors another reason to enjoy the outdoors and stay active. We’re excited to see it come to life.”

The trail will also support cross-country events, which are regularly hosted at the park, further enhancing its role as a hub for regional athletic competitions.
