Boil Water Advisory Issued for Haughton Residents Following a Bush Hog Accident

Posted: Jun 2, 2025, 7:04 PM

Haughton, LA — The Bossier Parish Consolidated Waterworks/Sewerage District No. 1 (CWSD #1) has issued a boil water advisory for residents in Haughton who are served by the Village Water System.

Earlier this evening, a flush hydrant was accidentally damaged by a bush hog cutting grass along Chandler Road, affecting the water line between the 200 and 900 blocks, including Roach and Crawford Roads. Crews responded quickly to make repairs, but the temporary loss of water pressure prompted officials to issue a precautionary boil advisory.

What You Need to Know:

  • Who is affected: Residents on the Village Water System in Haughton.
  • Why: A water line repair caused a temporary service interruption, which may allow contaminants to enter the system.
  • What to do: Boil all water for consumption until further notice.

Boil Water Instructions:

  • Bring tap water to a full rolling boil for at least one minute.
  • Boil water even if it has been filtered.
  • Use boiled or bottled water for:
  • Drinking
  • Cooking
  • Brushing teeth
  • Preparing food

Water samples will be collected and sent to the Louisiana Department of Health’s Office of Public Health in Shreveport for testing. The advisory will remain in effect until test results confirm the water is safe to drink.
