On Monday, March 24, representatives of the Bossier Parish Police Jury attended the announcement of the new digital literacy training partnership between Bossier Parish Community College, the Cyber Innovation Center, and Louisiana Tech University.
This new collaboration between the CIC, BPCC, and Tech will work directly with Global Strike Command. The program is called DETER…Digital Education Training for Enhanced Readiness. The program was made possible by a $500,000 federal award to start the collaboration.
Kevin Nolten, President of the Cyber Innovation Center, said this program will provide readiness training to the men and women who serve our country daily.
"This is another example of how our local community is coming together to support Barksdale Air Force Base and strengthen our national security," said Nolten.
“We are developing coursework that can be delivered online, but we’ve also built in some face-to-face coursework,” said Dr. Rick Bateman, BPCC's chancellor.
“This is a natural way for us to invest in them, to make them more effective in their work, and to provide economic opportunities for more people in this region," said Jim Henderson, president of Louisiana Tech.
Organizers hope for the digital literacy training partnership to expand and be offered to servicemen and women at other Air Force bases.
