Attendance for the second KTBS Fourth of July Freedom Fest Finale at South Bossier Park exceeded last year's first-time event with an estimated crowd of more than 1,800 people enjoying music, food, family and a massive fireworks display.
Bossier Parish Director of Parks and Recreation Warren Saucier said the safe environment created a family-friendly atmosphere that will keep bringing visitors to the park for special events like Freedom Fest.
"There's so many people to thank for the success of this year's event," Saucier said. "We especially want to recognize the efforts of the sheriff's deputies who did such a magnificent job of handling traffic, the EMS personnel who were here in case of emergency and the 911 staffers."
Saucier said the park was in great shape to handle the nearly 400 vehicles that came to the park. And the traffic control was excellent, he said, noting that all vehicles had exited the park within 20 minutes after the program was finished.
"It was a great night," Saucier said.
