Projects in Police Jury District 2 in the Haughton area are targeting both streets and drainage in a pair of Haughton subdivisions.
In Country Place, contractors for the police jury are in the process of reconstructing streets in need of repair. Projects in that subdivision have been ongoing and progress is being made.
"These street projects in Country Place have been going on for quite a while now," said District 2 jury member Glenn Benton. "There's still some work to do, and it might be a little inconvenient, but the residents here are happy to see these street improvements being made."
A drainage problem on the east side of Platt Elementary School is being addressed, with contractors for the police jury completing a retention pond and drainage pipes.
Benton said the drainage work at Platt Elementary is being done to help alleviate rain water running from the slope on the east side of the school into some homes in Eastwood subdivision.
"Once this work (at Platt) is finished, we think it will help solve the drainage problems some of the residents here have had to face in the past," Benton said.
