Shortly after 8 a.m. Friday, a 26-foot truck loaded with much needed supplies left the Benton courthouse heading to Calcasieu Parish. With the effort, Bossier Parish is helping a friend that stepped up when help was needed.

One week ago, parish police jury highway department crews were working around the clock to remove trees and debris blocking roadways in the aftermath of Hurricane Laura. Although Laura has gone, her destruction is still evident.

Swan Lake Road’s southbound lane at I-220 will be closed Sunday, Sept. 6 beginning at 8 p.m. for work associated with the widening of Swan Lake at the interchange, according to the state Department of Transportation and Development.

Contractors for the Bossier Parish Police Jury have poured the surface for a new bridge at Swan Lake Rd. (just off Poole Rd.) over the Flat River and are moving closer to completion. Dirt work on approaches to the bridge is ongoing.

Swan Lake Rd.’s southbound lane beneath Interstate 220 will be closed for construction Monday, July 27 beginning at 8 p.m. and will reopen July 28 at 5 a.m.
Also closed will be the I-220 eastbound exit ramp, and law enforcement officers will be on site to help accommodate traffic control on Swan Lake Rd.

The Bossier Parish Police Jury will follow the Governor’s directive not to hold public gatherings of over 50 people when it meets on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. As provided by the Governor’s order, the Jury will meet in person and limited members of the public will be able to be in physical attendance.
