Assists other senior operators, skilled mechanics, or craftspeople in the set-up and performance of work.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and one year of related experience and/or training as an Operator 1 with the Bossier Parish Highway Department or equivalent experience acquired elsewhere.
SPECIAL NOTE:
Random drug testing is conducted on all Highway employees
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Incumbent must possess a valid State Driver’s License and be able to obtain a Valid CDL license within a reasonable time upon appointment.
