Police Jury Approves Road Work and Water Tank Replacement in Rocky Mount Area

Posted: Apr 16, 2026, 4:01 PM

During its regular meeting on April 15, the Bossier Parish Police Jury took action to move forward with road repairs in several parts of the parish and approve improvements to the water system serving the Rocky Mount area.

Road Improvements Moving Forward

The Police Jury approved a road overlay project that will improve driving conditions on four parish roads.

After reviewing bids that were publicly opened earlier this month, the Police Jury voted to award the project to Benton and Brown, LLC. The motion passed without objection.

The road work will include new asphalt on:

  • Linton Road
  • Parks Road
  • Koran–Doyline Road
  • Johnson–Koran Road

Rather than rebuilding the roads, the project will add a fresh layer of asphalt over the existing pavement. Parish officials said this type of work helps extend the road's life, smooth out rough spots, and make travel safer.

Because the roads involved are long stretches, the work is being handled through a public bidding and contracting process.

Water System Improvements for the Rocky Mount Area

In other business, the Police Jury approved an agreement with the State of Louisiana to improve the East Central Bossier Water System, which serves the Rocky Mount area.

The project is part of the state’s Community Water Enrichment Fund program and will support upgrades at water system sites in East Central Bossier. One of the main improvements will be replacing a water storage tank in the Rocky Mount area.

“Water tanks play an important role in keeping water pressure steady and ensuring reliable service for residents, especially during high‑demand periods or emergencies,” said Parish Officials.

These actions reflect the Police Jury’s continued focus on basic services that affect residents’ daily lives, safe roads, and dependable water service. Both projects are expected to improve infrastructure in rural areas of the parish and help meet long‑term needs.
