WINTER STORM WATCH ISSUED FOR THE ARK LA TEX

Posted: Jan 20, 2026, 8:30 PM

A Winter Storm Watch is now in effect for much of the Ark‑La‑Tex region, including northwest and north‑central Louisiana, southwest and south‑central Arkansas, southeast Oklahoma, and east and northeast Texas.

The watch begins Friday morning and continues through Sunday morning, with the National Weather Service warning of heavy mixed winter precipitation, including the potential for significant ice accumulation. Ice poses the greatest threat with the potential for dangerous road conditions, downed trees, and power outages across the region. Communities such as Shreveport, Bossier City, Texarkana, El Dorado, Magnolia, Ruston, Monroe, Tyler, Longview, Nacogdoches, Lufkin, and Broken Bow are all included.

What to expect:

  • Hazardous travel—especially on bridges and overpasses
  • Possible prolonged power outages if ice accumulates
  • Continued dangerous conditions into Monday due to refreezing

What to do now:

  • Begin winter weather preparations
  • Avoid travel during the watch period if possible
  • Stay tuned to official forecast updates

Please stay safe, stay warm, and keep checking back for updates as this system approaches.
