Caplis Sligo Road Bridge Over Red Chute Bayou Reopened

Officials with DOTD have announced that the Caplis-Sligo Bridge over Red Chute Bayou is now open to traffic. The bridge, owned by the Bossier Parish Police Jury, had been closed since July 4, 2024, after a Bossier Sheriff’s deputy reported a buckle in the structure.
Contractors began work in August 2024 to remove and replace the bridge, and the project has now been completed ahead of schedule. All roadway striping is finished, and all construction signage has been removed, restoring normal traffic flow.
DOTD representatives expressed appreciation for the public’s patience during the closure and noted that the new structure is designed to improve safety and reliability for years to come.
