Bossier Parish Police Jury Honors Longtime Employee and Advances Key Community Projects

The Bossier Parish Police Jury took time during its March 3 meeting to honor a longtime public servant and to advance several important parish projects that benefit neighborhoods, public safety, and community beautification.
Resolution Honors Clifford Cannon for 27 Years of Service
Jurors unanimously approved a resolution recognizing Clifford Cannon for more than 27 years of dedicated service to the parish, including his work in both the Highway Department and the Mosquito Control Program. Cannon also previously served as Justice of the Peace for District 3 from 2009 to 2020. His official retirement date is set for March 7, 2026.
The Police Jury expressed deep appreciation for his commitment, professionalism, and long-term contributions to parish operations.
Parc Subdivision Infrastructure Accepted
The Police Jury approved the acceptance of streets, drainage, and sewer improvements in Parc Subdivision, Unit 1, marking the completion of all required punch-list items and installation of streetlights. The acceptance of these improvements officially brings the subdivision’s infrastructure into the parish system for maintenance.
Cane’s Landing Improvements Move Forward
In Cane’s Landing, Unit 5, jurors approved acceptance of completed streets and drainage work. All electric and gas installations were confirmed as finalized, allowing the unit to proceed to the next phase of development.
Mosquito Control Assistance Approved for Camp Minden
The Jury authorized mosquito spraying at Camp Minden in preparation for the Archery Shooters Association (ASA) Easton/Hoyt Pro/Am Tour archery tournament. The work, performed by the parish’s mosquito control staff, is expected to cost under $500.
Keep Bossier Beautiful Partnership Supports Parish-wide Cleanup
The Police Jury approved the use of the Highway Department’s grappler truck to support the Bossier Sheriff’s Office’s Operation Clean Sweep, scheduled for April 18, 2026. The truck will assist volunteers with the removal of large debris and litter collected during the parish-wide cleanup event.
Sligo–Red Chute Bank Stabilization Reaches Major Milestone
Jurors formally accepted substantial completion of the Caplis Sligo / Red Chute Bayou Bank Stabilization Project. The project was designed to protect nearby infrastructure and improve long-term bank stability. They also discussed including the potential installation of additional guardrails to enhance roadway safety in the project area.
