Village Water System Fire Hydrant Flush Inspections

Posted: Oct 20, 2025, 4:15 PM

Officials with the Bossier Parish Consolidated Waterworks/Sewerage District No. 1 began inspecting fire hydrants in the Village Water System today and will continue for the next two weeks.

Bossier Fire District #1 inspectors started the flushing process in the Dogwood area, and they will work east to the Webster Parish line. Each hydrant will undergo a five-minute flush to test pressure and flow rate, ensuring optimal performance for public health and firefighting operations.

Residents should be aware that hydrant flushing may cause temporary water discoloration. This is a normal result of sediment being disturbed within the water distribution system, especially settled water in the lines. If discoloration occurs, it is recommended that residents flush their home water systems until the water clears.

These annual inspections and flow tests are essential for identifying and resolving potential issues within the water system, helping maintain safety and reliability for all users.
