SCAM ALERT: Fraudulent Invoices Targeting Planning Commission Applicants
Posted: Aug 6, 2025, 3:44 PM
The Bossier City-Parish Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) is warning residents, property owners, and applicants to be on high alert for fraudulent invoices being circulated by unauthorized third parties.
In this scam, individuals receive fake invoices claiming to be from “The City of Bossier City Planning Commission”, demanding payment to process planning or zoning applications. These documents often appear legitimate, using publicly available information such as employee names, case numbers, and application details to deceive recipients.
Important Reminder:
The MPC does not send invoices by mail or email in PDF format for pending applications. Any such correspondence should be considered suspicious.
What to Watch For:
- Requests for payment from unfamiliar or unverified agencies
- Emails from suspicious or unofficial addresses
- Urgent language pressuring you to make an immediate payment
- PDF attachments claiming to be invoices or payment requests
If you receive one of these fraudulent invoices, do not respond to or send payment. Instead, report the incident immediately to the Bossier City Police Department or the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office.
