BPPJ Announces RFP Award for Espanita Drainage Improvements

During the April 2 regular agenda meeting, the Bossier Parish Police Jury is excited to announce the issuance of a Request for Proposals (RFP) award to Frye Magee, LLC, for administrative services for the Louisiana Community Development Block Grant Mitigation (LCDBG-MIT) Program. This RFP is specifically for the Espanita Drainage Improvements project, which is part of the Louisiana Watershed Initiative Round 2 in Police Jury District 2.

Frye Magee will be the grant administrator responsible for ensuring compliance with the Community Development Block Grant and the successful implementation of the Espanita Drainage Improvements project. This CDBG initiative aims to enhance flood mitigation efforts and upgrade drainage infrastructure, which will ultimately boost the community's resilience against future flooding events.

The Louisiana Watershed Initiative Round 2 is designed to make strategic investments in flood risk reduction projects that meet federal grant requirements while also providing support for local and regional project design. This represents a valuable funding opportunity for public entities at both the local and regional levels.

BPPJ Approves Agreement Addressing Future Traffic Congestion on Winfield Road

The Bossier Parish Police Jury also announced the approval of an agreement with Volkert, Inc. for the Bossier Parish Congestion Relief Winfield Road Project. This partnership marks a significant step towards alleviating future traffic congestion and improving transportation infrastructure in the area.

“As the parish grows, the Winfield Road Project aims to enhance traffic flow and reduce congestion, providing residents with safer and more efficient travel routes as it connects Winfield Road to Highway 3,” said Parish Engineer Eric Hudson. “Our goal is to begin the design phase this year, and as funding becomes available, we hope to start building in 2027 to 2035,” Hudson said. The estimated cost for the project is $80 million.  

Congratulations to Mr. Larry Landry

The Jurors were proud to announce a resolution appreciating Mr. Larry Landry for his 15 years of dedicated service and invaluable contributions to Bossier Parish as the Assistant Director of Public Utilities.

“Mr. Landry's commitment and hard work greatly benefited our community, and we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to him as he embarks on a well-deserved retirement,” said Jury President Glenn Benton.
