For 14-plus years, James Manning played a key role in maintaining Bossier Parish's buildings and grounds as a member of the parish Police Jury's maintenance division.
Beginning this week, he'll be enjoying his favorite activities and spending plenty of time with family following his retirement. Manning was honored at a reception attended by co-workers, friends and family where he received a proclamation telling of his accomplishments and work history.
Manning will also be continuing another career, one which has been important for many years and has earned him a prestigious title.
"My plans are to spend a lot of time with my family and to continue preaching the gospel," Manning said during a reception honoring his retirement. "Those are the things that are important to me."
In addition to being an outstanding employee, he is Dr. James Manning. He earned his PhD. in Theology (with highest honors) from Texarkana College of Theology in 2019, and he did it while working full time for the police jury. His achievements were rewarded by the college when board members named him president of the alumni board.
"I've worked with and been around many good people. I'll certainly miss every one of them," he said. "These have been good years."
