One of Bossier Parish’s busiest intersections is scheduled for a major overhaul following action last week by the parish Police Jury. Jury members voted unanimously to award a $741,000 contract to Earnest Contracting for turn lane extensions at the Benton Rd. (LA Hwy. 3)/I-220 intersection, a project designed to help improve north and south traffic flow through the area. Bossier Parish and the city of Bossier City will split the project cost.

Beginning Monday, Oct. 18, the LA. Hwy. 157 bridge over Bodcau Bayou Relief north of Bellevue will be closed to all traffic according to the state Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD).

Construction on a new entrance to Barksdale Air Force Base from the I-220/I-20 interchange is moving ahead, with an expected completion date later this year. Following construction, painting and sandblasting reportedly will continue into early 2022.

Contractors for the Bossier Parish Police Jury continue to push south from Crouch Rd. with clearing and grubbing for the Swan Lake Rd. extension, a thoroughfare that will become the parish’s north/south connection between LA Hwy. 162 and I-220.

Contractors for the Bossier Parish Police Jury are continuing work on parish asphalt roads that were damaged by historic floods in 2015 and 2016. A total of 32 roads will be repaired or rebuilt using just over $30 million in funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
