Prior to 2015, the Bossier Parish Police Jury maintained parks in the parish and provided upkeep for parish recreational facilities. This maintenance and upkeep was conducted under the authority of the public works department.
There was, however, no department that focused its attention specifically on parks and recreation. In 2015 that changed when the police jury hired a full-time director to head a parks and recreation and provided a budget dedicated to that area.
Retired coach and school administrator Warren Saucier took the reins and as part of his initial responsibility, outlined a plan for an intense maintenance program and initiated studies targeting the future of recreation throughout the region. His plan for the future, signed off on by the police jury and its administrators, covers what’s ahead for Bossier Parish for the next decade and beyond.
