Welcome from William R. Altimus, Bossier Parish Police Jury Administrator

Welcome! My name is Bill Altimus and I hope you find the information we have provided on our website useful.

I am excited about the future of our parish. Bossier is considered one of the fastest growing parishes in Louisiana, and we have many exciting challenges ahead. Diversifying our economy and providing the necessary infrastructure to support it is certainly at the top of our list. We expect the creation of the new Global Strike Command at Barksdale Air Force Base and the National Cyber Research Park, with our Cyber Innovation Center as the anchor, to have a profound economic impact in our community.

We are in the process of creating a new sewage district and constructing a sewage treatment plant to aid in the tremendous residential and commercial development which is occurring here. A major transportation plan has been developed, and federal funds are being used along with state and local tax money to improve transportation in the unincorporated areas.

Bossier Parish has recently completed a $58 million capital improvements program. The courthouse in Benton has been expanded and renovated; a new maximum-security corrections facility south of Plain Dealing is helping to enhance public safety. The parish libraries have been renovated within the last ten years, and now provide new technology and research options to the public. Studies are in progress to determine the need for parish-wide zoning regulations, the feasibility of a solid waste facility, and the need for an expanded juvenile corrections facility.

We welcome your questions and input on these matters, along with any concerns which you may have. Please contact me with questions, suggestions or comments.
