Area landowners learned better management practices of timber resources during a Friday workshop session at Red Oak Lake in Haughton, sponsored by Trailblazer RC&D.

Private landowners also heard Sabrina Claeys of Quail Forever discuss the impact of control burns on wildlife and habitat, listened as Tim Holland (Mudd & Holland Forestry Consultants) explained the role of consultants and  heard Andrea Bridgewater-Fair from the NRCS Bossier field office explain financial assistance opportunities available.

Chris McCarthy from the Louisiana Dept. of Agriculture and Forestry outlined steps to take for successful control burn programs designed to promote healthy timber and create an environment that lowers the risk of wildfires.

Trailblazer was assisted in the sponsorship of the field day by ENABLE Midstream Partners; Mudd & Holland Consulting Foresters, LLC; Allstate Land & Timber Co., Inc.; Burnham Construction; Canfor Southern Pine; Bossier Parish Police Jury; Webster Parish Police Jury;  and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.
