BOIL ADVISORY (05/17/2016)
BOIL ADVISORY CONSOLIDATED WATERWORKS/SEWERAGE DISTRICT NO. 1 DATE: May 17, 2016 For Immediate Release The Consolidated Waterworks/Sewerage District No. 1 has experienced problems with our water supply system in the east part of Dogwood Subdivision north of Dogwood Trail. The water was cut off on Timberwood Drive at Shadow Wood Drive, and includes the following streets: Shadow Wood Drive north of Timberwood Drive, Shadow Bend Drive, Woodlake Drive, Woodlake Circle, Foxwood Lane, Woodstock Drive, Holly Ridge Drive, Watchwood Drive, Fox Run Circle, Wildbriar Circle, and those portions of Ginger Drive and Eliga Drive supplied by the Consolidated Waterworks/Sewerage District No. 1 water system. The water was shut off in order to repair a main break caused by a boring contractor. Because of this problem, the water from our water supply system in this service area is of questionable microbiological quality. Therefore, as a precaution, the Water System is issuing a BOIL ADVISORY effective immediately. This BOIL ADVISORY is to remain in effect until rescinded by the Water System, upon recommendation from LaDHH. It is recommended that all consumers in the above listed areas disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means: Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.) Again, please be sure to disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise. The Water System will rescind this Boil Advisory upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals - Office of Public Health that additional water samples collected from this portion of our water supply system have shown our water to be safe to drink. This usually takes about 24 hours. Thanks. Larry V. Landry Director of Public Utilities 742-9748
