National Child Passenger Safety Week

This week is National Child Passenger Safety Week and to ensure your child’s car seat is installed properly, please visit the Caddo Sheriff’s Safety Town (8910 Jewella Avenue) Saturday, Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. until noon for the annual free car seat check event.

Starting with a baby’s first journey home from the hospital, parents are responsible for making sure their kids travel safely. Unintentional injury is the leading cause of death in children. More kids die in automobile crashes than any other type of unintentional injury.

Statistics show use of car seats and booster seats greatly reduce the risk of childhood death and the extent of injuries due to an auto accident.

Nationally certified car seat technicians from Louisiana State Police Troop G and Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force will be checking car seats and teaching parents and caregivers the correct way to use and install child safety seats.

Show children their safety is your priority. When taught young, children will learn to independently practice life-saving skills as an adult, or when he or she becomes a parent. Be firm and diligent about child seat and seat belt use.

Each LSP Troop in Louisiana is a designated car seat fitting station. This link will provide times and designated day of the week that certified Troopers are available. Click Here
